Brand / Maker
Who makes the martial arts supply? Is it from a reputable maker? Have you seen that particular brand used by any of your fellow karate students, teachers or instructors? If so, then you're on better footing. If the martial art supply you want to buy is currently endorsed or being used by someone in your karate school, dojo or classroom, then you should consider their opinion of that product. Brand or the maker of the karate gear isn't always a sure way to know that the product will be good, but it does reduce the risk. If you're not sure, call the manufacturer and talk to them, talk to the retailer and ask for their opinion, that's what they're there for. One note, just because a brand is good in one particular line of gear doesn't mean they are good at another. It may not always cross over.
